Lubeck is a very picturesque city famed for its many gothic buildings and also its tasty marzipan. Its most famous landmark is the iconic 15th-century Holstentor gateway, which boasts a true fairy tale appearance, with twin cylindrical towers.

This city located in North Germany has more than 1000 historic buildings, most of them can be seen in the beautiful medieval downtown. In fact, Lubeck has been listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 1987.

As you can see in the map below, the medieval downtown is surrounded by a wide channel. This picture was taken from a green area nea Wallstrasse street, overlooking the colorful and beautiful houses of the south of the downtown. The two peaks on the right belong to the Lübeck Cathedral (German: Dom zu Lübeck, or colloquially Lübecker Dom)
