Geyser at sunset Yellowstone National Park Lower Mid Basin Wyoming US

Location: Yellowstone National Park. Wyoming. US.

This is Clepsydra Geyser erupting at sunset. It is one of the geysers you can see along the Fountain Paint Pot Nature Trail, located in Lower Geyser Basin, in Yellowstone National Park.

This geyser splashes from several vents continuously to heights of 15 metres (45 feet). Its name is derived from the Greek word for water clock and was given because the geyser used to erupt regularly every three minutes. Since the 1959 Hebgen earthquake, however, Clepsydra erupts almost without pause.
